Cryogenic Ball Valve is engineered for quarter-turn automated or manual isolation in ultra-low temperature applications down to -196°C (-320°F). Specially designed with an extended bonnet (drip collar) to lift the stem packing gland out of the extreme cold zone, this valve prevents freeze-up, stem icing, and packing seal failure, ensuring smooth operation in liquid gas processing.

Featuring a heavy-duty quarter-turn ball design with an internal cavity pressure-relief system, the cryogenic ball valve prevents dangerous over-pressurization caused by liquefied gas expanding inside the valve body. Widely deployed across liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminals, industrial gas air separation plants (LIN, LOX, LAR), aerospace fueling systems, and cryogenic storage facilities, it provides rapid, tight shut-off under extreme thermal contraction.

Key Features

  • Extended Bonnet (Drip Collar): Elevates stem packing high above the cold liquid zone, allowing ambient air to warm the upper stem and keep gland seals pliable.

  • Cavity Pressure Relief System: Built-in relief hole or self-relieving seats vent trapped liquid gas from the internal body cavity back upstream when thermal expansion occurs.

  • Fire-Safe & Anti-Static Design: Certified fire-safe construction (API 607 / ISO 10497) with spring-loaded grounding devices to prevent static discharge in explosive gas zones.

  • Cryogenic Lip Seals & PCTFE Seats: Fitted with spring-energized PTFE/Lip seals and high-density PCTFE (Kel-F) seats to maintain drop-tight seal integrity under severe thermal contraction.

  • Live-Loaded Stem Packing: Belleville spring washers continuously apply compression on stem seals to automatically adjust for thermal cycling.

Brands We Provide

Applications

  • LNG Processing Plants, Liquefaction Terminals & bunkering

  • Industrial Gas Production (Liquid Oxygen, Nitrogen, Argon, CO2)

  • Liquid Hydrogen (LH2) & Aerospace Fuel Transfer

  • Pharmaceutical & Bio-Tech Cryo-Storage

  • Ethylene & Petrochemical Gas Separation Units

  • Marine Cryogenic ISO Tank Containers & Piping Skids

Benefits

  • Prevents Stem Ice Lock: Extended neck geometry keeps actuators and manual gear operators frost-free and fully operable.

  • Thermal Shock Resistance: Precision-machined stainless steel and alloy bodies withstand rapid temperature drops without body cracking or seat distortion.

  • Rapid Quarter-Turn Isolation: Provides fast, reliable 90-degree shut-off compared to slow-rising globe or gate alternatives.

  • Zero Cavity Over-Pressurization: Dedicated pressure-relief mechanisms safeguard the valve body against explosive over-pressurization caused by trapped liquid boil-off.
