Cryogenic Check Valve (Non-Return Valve) is engineered to prevent backflow and protect upstream pumping equipment, vaporizers, and compressors in extreme sub-zero fluid systems down to -196°C (-320°F). Operating automatically without manual intervention, this valve responds instantly to fluid flow changes, permitting forward flow while maintaining a rapid, tight seal upon flow reversal or pressure drop.

Designed with low-temperature austenitic stainless steel bodies, specialized spring-assisted discs, and PCTFE or metal-to-metal seating, the cryogenic check valve withstands severe thermal shock and material contraction. It is widely used across liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminals, industrial gas air separation plants (LIN, LOX, LAR), liquid hydrogen storage, and cryogenic transport tankers where reliable unidirectional flow is critical to plant safety.

Key Features

  • Rapid Backflow Prevention: Spring-loaded disc/poppet ensures positive, immediate valve closure prior to flow reversal, eliminating back-pressure shock and water hammer.

  • Thermal Contraction Resilient Seats: Fitted with high-density PCTFE (Kel-F) or Stellite hardfaced seats to maintain drop-tight sealing integrity under severe thermal shock.

  • Low Opening Pressure: Precision-engineered springs offer low cracking pressure to minimize head loss and maximize flow efficiency across cold boxes and skids.

  • Extended / Extended-Body Design: Select designs feature extended bodies or bonnets to keep internal guidance mechanisms clean and prevent mechanical binding caused by thermal contraction.

  • Fire-Safe & Anti-Static Construction: Fully metallic and fire-safe construction compliant with international gas safety standards.

Brands We Provide

Applications

  • LNG Receiving Terminals, Pump Discharge Lines & Bunkering Skids

  • Industrial Gas Production (Liquid Oxygen, Nitrogen, Argon, CO2)

  • Liquid Hydrogen (LH2) & Liquid Helium Transfer Piping

  • Cryogenic Storage Tank Loading & Unloading Lines

  • Vaporizer Outlets & Gas Fractionation Units

  • Marine Cryogenic ISO Tank Containers & Transport Trailers

Benefits

  • Protects Expensive Cryogenic Pumps: Instantly blocks backflow to safeguard upstream pumps, compressors, and flow meters from rotational damage.

  • Minimal Pressure Drop: Streamlined internal flow path ensures high flow coefficients ($C_v$) and minimal energy loss.

  • Zero External Leakage: Bolted bonnet or all-welded body construction eliminates fugitive emissions of hazardous or expensive liquid gases.

  • Self-Operating Reliability: Requires no external power supply or manual control, providing automatic system protection 24/7.

Our Cryogenic Check Valves at AustraliaValves.com are manufactured and cryogenic-tested using liquid nitrogen (LN2) and helium gas in accordance with BS 6364 and ISO 28921, offering custom cracking pressures, body styles, and connection options across Australia.
