Carbon Steel Ball Valve (A105/WCB) utilizes a precision-machined, quarter-turn rotating spherical ball with a bore through its center to deliver tight quarter-turn isolation and low-torque flow control. Constructed from forged A105 carbon steel for small-bore high-pressure piping or cast A216 WCB steel for larger diameter lines, these valves align the ball port with the pipeline flow path when open and rotate 90 degrees to block the flow path completely when closed.

Engineered for rugged industrial environments, these valves offer minimal flow resistance and near-zero pressure drop across the line when fully open. Floating ball designs rely on upstream pressure to press the ball against the downstream seat ring for tight shutoff in smaller sizes, while Trunnion Mounted designs support the ball on top and bottom bearings to keep operating torque low under high-pressure Class 600 to Class 2500 conditions. Equipped with anti-static devices, blow-out proof stems, and fire-safe graphite packing, these units ensure long-term operational integrity across hydrocarbon and industrial processing plants.

Practical Advantages in the Field

  • Rapid Quarter-Turn Isolation: Operates smoothly with a 90-degree handle turn for fast, reliable emergency shutoff and isolation.

  • Full Port Low-Resistance Flow: Full-bore options match internal pipe dimensions, eliminating pressure drop and allowing pigging operations in pipeline transmission.

  • Fire-Safe & Anti-Static Security: Built with secondary metal-to-metal seating and grounding springs certified to API 607 to prevent leakage during plant fires.

  • Low Torque Trunnion Designs: Trunnion mounting distributes mechanical loads on internal bearings, drastically reducing operating torque on large-bore, high-pressure valves.

  • Blow-Out Proof Stem Architecture: Internally inserted stems with integral shoulders prevent stem ejection under high system over-pressures.
