Ductile Iron Butterfly Valve relies on a resilient-seated quarter-turn rotating disc mechanism to deliver fast, low-torque flow isolation and throttling. Cast from high-strength ASTM A536 ductile iron, these valves feature a body material that offers significantly higher impact resistance, tensile strength, and ductility compared to traditional grey cast iron, making them ideal for high-vibration industrial and municipal distribution lines.

The valve disc rotates on a central shaft within a resilient EPDM, NBR, or Viton liner ring, forming a continuous 360-degree bubble-tight seal against system line pressure. The full internal lining insulates the ductile iron body from direct fluid contact, preventing internal corrosion and scaling while maintaining smooth, low-friction operation. Equipped with protective Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) coating internally and externally, these valves resist outdoor weathering and aggressive soil environments.

Practical Advantages in the Field

  • High Impact & Thermal Shock Resistance: Ductile iron construction absorbs pipeline stresses, thermal expansion, and mechanical impacts without cracking.

  • Bi-Directional Bubble-Tight Shutoff: Resilient elastomeric seats ensure 100% zero-leakage sealing in both flow directions up to full pressure rating.

  • Corrosion-Resistant Protective Coatings: Heavy-duty Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) powder coating safeguards the valve body against corrosive media, humidity, and soil immersion.

  • Compact, Space-Saving Footprint: Wafer and lug designs drastically reduce weight and installation length on pipe racks compared to traditional gate or globe valves.

  • Low Operating Torque & Actuation Ready: Features top mounting pads compliant with ISO 5211 for direct-mount lever handles, gear operators, or electric/pneumatic actuators.
