T Type Strainer (also known as a Tee Strainer) relies on a compact, right-angle internal basket screen to mechanically filter suspended solids, pipe scale, rust, and debris from high-volume liquid, gas, or steam pipelines. Named after its characteristic “T” shaped body configuration, the strainer routes fluid into a straight-through pipeline path while directing particulates into an offset, perpendicular basket chamber that intercepts foreign matter with minimal pressure loss.

Specifically engineered for large-diameter pipelines and tight installation layouts, these units act as robust protective barriers for downstream equipment like pumps, turbines, flow meters, and control valves. As debris accumulates inside the heavy-duty cylindrical screen basket, fluid continues to pass through unobstructed. Maintenance is fast and straightforward: the end cover or quick-opening hinged door can be opened to remove, clean, and reinsert the internal basket without disturbing the main line piping or removing the valve body from the system.

Practical Advantages in the Field

  • Ideal for Compact & Straight-Run Piping: Fits seamlessly into straight-through pipelines where space limitations prevent the installation of larger Y-type or basket strainers.

  • Low Pressure Drop at High Flow Rates: Designed with a generous open-area-to-pipe-size ratio to ensure maximum filtration efficiency with minimal head loss across large-diameter lines.

  • Quick-Opening Cover Options: Available with hinged covers or davit-arm assemblies that allow single-operator access for screen cleaning on large, heavy-tonnage pipelines.

  • Bi-Directional Flow Flexibility: Can be configured for straight-through flow or right-angle flow orientations depending on system layout requirements.

  • Heavy-Duty High-Pressure Resilience: Fabricated or cast from high-strength carbon, stainless, or alloy steels to withstand extreme pressures up to Class 2500 and severe thermal cycling.
