Y Type Strainer

Y Type Strainer relies on a compact, angled internal basket screen to mechanically filter suspended solids, pipe scale, rust, and foreign particulates from flowing liquid, gas, or steam pipelines. Named after its characteristic “Y” shaped body configuration, the strainer channels fluid through the slanted leg where an internal mesh screen intercepts debris while permitting clean media to flow unimpeded downstream.

By capturing damaging debris before it reaches sensitive line equipment, these strainers act as essential protective barriers for control valves, pumps, steam traps, meters, and regulators. As debris collects inside the cylindrical screen chamber, pressure drop across the unit increases slightly. The debris can be easily flushed out via a blow-off drain plug installed on the strainer cap or cleared by removing the cover plate during scheduled maintenance without removing the valve body from the pipeline.
